Shanxi raw coal production set a record high in Dec. of 2009

The production of Shanxi raw coal broke 60mln tons and reached 62.969mln tons in December, 2009, up 39.5% year on year.

According to the statistics from Bureau of Statistic of Shanxi on January 31, Shanxi coal industry achieved 88.41bln yuan of tax payment and 46.14bln yuan of total profit, accounting for 80.9% and 107.7% of total industry respectively, which led provincial industry to maintain growth, promote transportation and development.

Coal production has achieved the record high for two consecutive months. Since the restructuring and merge in coal enterprises, the elimination of obsolete capacity and shutdown of small coal mine spared some market room for large-scaled enterprises.

After the integration among enterprises achieved significant progress, the capacity was released further and production increased significantly. In 2009, raw coal production of provincial enterprises with a larger scale increased month by month. The output of raw coal reached 56.932mln tons in November, up 27.8% year on year, and peaked 62.969mln tons in December, up 39.5% year on year, set recorded high.

Meanwhile, provincial safety production improved apparently and hit historically best level. In 2009, coal mine accidents fell 40% and death rate in million tons of raw coal declined to 0.328, down 0.328 over previous year and occupied 36.77% of China, which made an outstanding contribution for China's death rate in million tons of raw coal below 1.
