China Shenhua Energy Co, the world's top coal producer by market value, said its commercial coal production for 2009 rose 13.2 percent from a year earlier to 210.3 million tonnes.

Coal sales for the same period were up 9.3 percent to 254.3 million tonnes, while exports fell 35.8 percent to 13.6 million tonnes, China Shenhua said in a statement on Wednesday.

In December, Shenhua said, production rose 9.4 percent to 17.4 million tonnes, but sales fell 5.9 percent to 22.4 million tonnes.
